A reassuringly balanced Rioja wine which retains fruity character after being passionately crafted over the course of five years. Balanced with smoky and spicy notes from oak. Aromas of blackberries, blueberries, and plums, smoky, toasted wood nuances, with spices and hints of minerals and tobacco. On the palate is smooth with soft and velvety tannins, great palate weight, extraordinary balance acidity. Elegant and complex aftertaste, with hints of coffee, chocolate, tobacco and dark fruit. Pairs well with delicious with red meat, grills and roasts, game, mature and blue cheeses. Great with lamb stew with chestnuts sauce or vegetable pisto.
Campo Viejo celebrates the Spanish way of life and believes in a life lived to the fullest, packed with expression, vividness and passion. The winery is underground which is as visually spectacular as it is practical. Concealing the bulk of the structure underground has created naturally dark, serene areas with small amounts of natural light, which evokes the feeling of traditional Rioja wineries and allows the winemakers to work like artisans.
The winery is a one-of-a-kind production facility in Rioja which is grounded in the principles of sustainable development, and is a balance between oenology, architecture and the environment. Campo Viejo is the first Spanish winery to certify its carbon footprint through AENOR, a true reflection of the commitment to making their land a place to enjoy for generations to come.
